A Good Problem to Have Is Still a Problem

You may have noticed that there are Sundays when it’s a challenge for people to find parking.

None of us could have imagined that four years after building a bigger sanctuary and significantly expanding our parking lot that we’d be opening the overflow back wall on the sanctuary every Sunday for the second service and on many Sundays be struggling to accommodate parking for people. As so many have said, what a great problem to have! Yes, but it’s still a problem.

We have explored options to try to address it. We have contacted property owners close to the church to see if they’d be willing to sell their empty lot, but to no avail. We contacted the library down the street to see if we could shuttle people from their lot, but they were not willing. It’s too much for my little brain to solve, so I’ve invited a group of people to help explore options and see if there can be any solutions. We met once in December to lay out the issues but after the first of the year we will start to meet more regularly.

I’m sure things won’t be addressed overnight, so please be patient and know we are working on things. And please keep this in prayer. The thought of turning people away is terrible. We still have some room at the first service, and plenty of room at the third service, so hopefully people will still find their way to us and find their place in the ministry. Is the 10am worship service the one you attend? If, from time to time, you are able to worship at either the 8:30 or 11:15am services in order to help spread the load, that would be great. If that doesn’t work for you, no worries, you may just have to drive around the lot a few times on some Sundays to wait for a spot to open.

Peace be with you and pray for parking.

Your brother in Christ,

Pr. Jim
