As spring continues, you are invited to take part in a meaningful and joy filled outreach opportunity. The Shelter BBQ at Family Promise returns on Tuesday, May 19 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, offering a simple and powerful way to serve alongside others from St. Luke.
You will spend the evening outdoors on the playspace, sharing a meal and building community with families currently staying at the shelter. Dinner is served fresh off the grill, and just as important, time is spent connecting, laughing, and engaging with kids through games and activities. It is a relaxed environment where relationships form naturally and hospitality is at the center of everything.
These gatherings were some of the most attended and talked about events last summer, not because they were complicated, but because they created space for genuine connection. You may come ready to serve, and leave having received just as much in return.
You are welcome to simply show up and be part of the evening, and you are also invited to help make it happen. Volunteers are needed to lead and support the event, including a team lead to help organize the evening, food preppers to shop and prepare the meal, and play leaders to engage kids in outdoor activities.
If you would like to take part or volunteer in any role, sign up by contacting Stefanie and join the Shelter BBQ team. Your presence helps create a place of welcome, dignity, and community for families who need it most.
