Day 10 - Back to Athens
When we awoke we were docked at the port to Athens ready to disembark. We caught our bus back to Athens with a little city tour along the way. We got back before 10am, but since we couldn’t check in until 3, we had a lot of free time to kill. Many went to Razzouk Tattoo (the famous place in Jerusalem, but because of the war he - Wassim Razzouk - has opened a restaurant/parlor in Athens as well) to get “certificates of pilgrimage” to remember their Pauline Pilgrimage. 14 in all got tattoos - most crosses, olive branches, or the Greek letters of Chi Rho with Alpha & Omega (first two letters of Christ with first & last letters of Greek alphabet for “Christ is the beginning and the end”). Others went to museums, hop on & off bus rides, walked around the historic district of shops and cafes called the Placa, etc. We gathered in the evening for dinner together, then some enjoyed a drink on the rooftop bar to view the sunset. Others rested because a cold has been shared throughout the group. It was nice to have a free day.
