St. Luke and Family Promise: A Partnership Rooted in Love of Neighbor

St. Luke’s partnership with Family Promise of Spokane is a living expression of Christ’s call to walk alongside our neighbors with compassion and care. In 2023, after prayerful discernment and the work of a vision team, the congregation voted to enter into an ongoing partnership with Family Promise as a core mission of the St. Luke community.

Family Promise of Spokane works to end the cycle of homelessness for families with children. Their programs help families find or keep stable housing and provide continued support for up to two years after housing is secured. Family Promise also operates an emergency shelter for families who need immediate care and stability. At the heart of this work is a shared belief that every child deserves a safe place to call home.

St. Luke’s involvement focuses on relationship, presence, and flexibility. Volunteers respond to real needs as they arise. This includes community building events, practical support, donations, and ongoing coordination with Family Promise staff. The goal is not only to meet immediate needs but to walk alongside families with dignity and grace.

This partnership was recently highlighted in a Sunday article in The Spokesman Review, where Stefanie Reinke, St. Luke’s liaison to Family Promise, shared how this ministry continues to grow and serve.

Volunteer opportunities are available year round, with many ways to get involved. You are invited to learn more, read the article, and consider how you might take part in this shared ministry of hope and hospitality.
