Today we experienced our second and last day in Cairo. We began by visiting two Coptic Orthodox Churches. The first Church (the Hanging Church) is the oldest church in Egypt dating back to the 6th Century. The second, near by, is famous for their claim to be built over a grotto where the Holy Family had stayed. We then had lunch at a restaurant on the Nile River. Finally we visited the new Grand Egyptian Museum recently opened (in the last 6 months), housing a great exhibit from the treasures of the tomb of King Tut. The building itself is impressive. After returning to our hotel we were joined for dinner by Hani and Lucy Hannah who are parents to Selma, a young woman who worships at St. Luke. Hani was a professor of theology at the Protestant seminary in Cairo for many years and now works for a theological publisher. It was so interesting to get to visit with locals, and Christian locals at that. Notice the cover photo with Stefanie and Jacque and the kids. Because they were blond, it was like they were celebrities (or it was their charming personalities, but pretty sure it was the hair).
