Today was very relaxing. We skipped the Temple of Horus at Edfu because we would have had to get up at 6am and join thousands of people off the dozens of ship all at the same time. Our guide convinced me the wait in line at that time in the morning wasn’t worth it. People seemed very pleased we had nearly a whole day to relax on our boat and thoroughly enjoyed the cruise up the Nile in a rural area. There were reeds along the shores in parts where I told our people to look for Moses’ basket – that it’s been sighted there. I think some actually did (I’m not naming names, Kevin Peterson)! In the later afternoon we visited the temple dedicated to Sobek, the alligator god and Horus, and falcon-headed god. They also had a small museum for the mummified alligators they discovered. I think the cruise up the Nile is my favorite part of the trip (though I haven’t been to Mt. Sinai and the Red Sea, which we’ll do in a couple of days.
