Our first day of site seeing. After a two day journey to get here (arriving with our luggage in our rooms about 3am last night), we started off with a bang – visiting the great pyramids of Giza in Cairo, and the Sphinx. It was breathtaking and one of those “pinch me” moments “because I can’t believe I’m standing here!” It was pretty foggy/smoggy, but still incredible. Many did a camel ride and smelled like a camel afterward (some smelled like one before – but I’m not naming names). We then had a late lunch, visited a papyrus shop, and returned to our hotel. The sights, sounds, smells, traffic, dress, language, weather, food, call to prayer, everything is so different than home. Quite an experience.
