Youth Mission Trip Reflection Sunday
This Sunday, September 20th, you’re in for a special treat! Worship will be led by mission trip youth and chaperones who traveled to Asheville, North Carolina back in July. They will share the ways in which they encountered God during their time aiding the long-term recovery in the Asheville, Lake Lure, and Chimney Rock communities. 7th-12th grade youth will also worship together during Sunday School hour.
The mission trip was in response to the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in fall of 2024.
The youth will lead all three services, so no matter which is your preference, you can take part in the special day!
We will celebrate through scripture, stories, and song! While in North Carolina, the youth attended a Lutheran church and will be sharing (in collaboration with Charles, worship coordinator at St. Luke) a memorable song they learned in worship there!

We believe God is already present in the world, so for us, mission is about joining God’s work, not imposing something new. Jesus’ saving work has been fully accomplished on the cross. So, we love, serve, and give freely in response to the profound love, grace, and forgiveness we have received.
This reorientation changes our entire approach. We bring our genuine selves without any strings attached and without claiming to have all the answers, creating space for sincere connections and meeting real-world needs, recognizing that God is God and we are not.
This is the greatest leap of faith possible: believing wholeheartedly the Gospel good news alone, and the authentic love and service inspired by it, can truly change hearts and lives. Saving is Jesus’ work. In response, serving is ours.
