Coming Home: May You be Filled With the Fullness of God
We woke up in Santo Domingo Saturday morning, packed up our things, and hopped on the bus one more time before heading to the airport to travel home. We spent the morning in the capital, sight-seeing, stopping in a few shops, and grabbing ice cream. Then we went to the airport where we said our final goodbyes to Miguel, Rafa (our bus driver), and Ruben.
To our friends in Fondo Negro, Miguel, Germy, Natan, Francis, Ruben, Rafa, and all of the coaches, families, and kids who hosted us – Thank you. Thank you for your love, your welcoming smiles, for your care, and your time spent with us. God was at work in you and through you this week. You have impacted our lives more than you know and we miss you already.
Our flights went as planned: We flew from Santo Domingo to Atlanta, Atlanta to Salt Lake, and Salt Lake to Spokane. We arrived in Spokane at 11:30 p.m. and found friends and family there to welcome us with hugs and smiles. We love you all and are happy and thankful to be home with you.
All week we have talked about how easily the people we met in the D.R. give and receive love. They reminded us of what Jesus teaches, to love your neighbor as yourself. This is a lesson that our group hopes to bring back to the states. The love of Jesus is overflowing, seeping into every open space. Our prayer is that God can help us find the words, in time, to express to you all the experiences we had this week. For now all I can do is think of the words of Paul the apostle in Ephesians 3:16-19:
“I pray that, according to the riches of His glory, He may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
This is most certainly my prayer for our group, as well as our congregation, friends, and family. From all of us, thank you all again for your support. This week was certainly life-changing.
Dios te bendiga (God bless you)!
