Day 2 - Athens

We started our day early. 7am breakfast, 7:30 bus, 8am entrance into the Acropolis to beat the heat and the crowds. While it helped to start early, it still was blistering hot (got up to 97), and by the time we left it was like ants on an ant hill. From the Acropolis we stopped at the nearby Mars Hill or Areopagus where Paul gave his famous witness recorded in Acts 17:16ff. From there we took a bus tour through Athens and some then visited the ancient Roman Agora (below the Acropolis and Areopagus), while other had more free time to get lunch and explore the Placa (shopping area). We returned to our hotel in the early afternoon to enjoy naps, roof-top-pool time, and the bar with its rooftop views of the Acropolis ‘til our scheduled dinner at 7pm. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that one is blown away by the history and seeing these famous sights, and for us Christians the significance of standing where Paul stood and spoke (as well as Socrates, Plato, and others).
