Day 3 - Corinth to Olympia

We left Athens this morning after having one more rooftop breakfast looking at the Acropolis. The bus took us to Corinth (about 1.5 hours away), stopping by the Corinth Canal. We then visited the ancient ruins of this important city in Paul’s ministry. We stood in front of the BEMA (some translations refer to it as the “tribunal”) where Paul stood on trial before Gallio, the proconsul of that region called Achai according to Acts 18:5ff. (vs. 12). We had a nice leisurely lunch there, and then made our way on a long bus ride to our next stay at beautiful hotel near the ancient ruins of Olympia, which we will visit tomorrow morning. It was very impactful to know that’s where Paul once stood, where he had spent a year and a half doing ministry, learning more of the context, culture, and history, and reading Scripture with new eyes. But most of all, how fun to experience it with such a great group of people who enjoy each others company and shared faith.
