Day 8 - Ephesus & Patmos
Today we traveled to see the ruins of Ephesus in Turkey, and the beautiful island of Patmos, Greece where John was exiled and wrote the book of Revelation. Right outside of Ephesus on the edge of today’s town of Selcuk, Turkey is the ruins of St John’s Cathedral that we visited after visiting the vast ruins of Ephesus where Paul spent 3 years (the longest he stayed anywhere) before Demetrius riled up a riot in the theatre (that we say in) and ran Paul out of town. It was all pretty impressive and impactful.
It was also Mark & Cindy Thompson’s 41st Anniversary that we got to celebrate. They celebrated it by missing our group disembarking the ship and catching our bus to Ephesus. They weee able to catch another and join us just before entering the gates to Ephesus.
Another highlight was Sylvia doing some pole dancing for many of us and many strangers on a tender that brought us from ship to shore at Patmos. I don’t know if John would’ve approved, though he might have, because she kept her clothes on.
