Petra

Our last day and visit, before returning home, was to Petra. One of the new 7 wonders of the world, Petra, the rose city, the lost city with its massive facades built into the face of its sandstone cliffs. After walking through a slot canyon, one walks up to the face of the Treasury – as seen at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Of course some of us had to do camel rides.

The night before we stayed at a beautiful hotel in the Old City outside Petra. It was the nicest place we stayed. Our only complaint was that we didn’t have enough time there.

After our visit to Petra we traveled by bus up to Amman, the capital city, and largest city (over 4 million) of Jordan. We stayed in a hotel run by Christians where we enjoyed a rooftop bar and view of the city before leaving at 10pm for a 1:30am flight back to the States.

Two people on our trip got covid during our journey and had to quarantine, missing several days. A few of us got covid on the return flights home – including me.

What a great pilgrimage it was! Great group of people. Wonderful memories. Incredible experiences. And, I pray, enriching to our faith.
